Vegetable Feast Fortnight!

Going on vegetable feast fortnight to kickstart my body back into health. So no dairy, no sugar - not even fruit and only stevia to sweeten sauces, no grains, no starchy foods.

Small (but delicious) amounts of red meat and nuts

Mostly tofu and fish

And loads of green juices, smoothies and salads. Any suggestions for salads to make?

Nut milk

*

Day #2 of juice cleanse - cheating with a ton of nut and seed milks** ‘cos we need something to look forward to, other than a bit of colon cleansing (TMI? Sorry!).

I’m sure y’all know how to make it so I won’t bore you***, other than adding that chai spices taste really good, as do cinnamon and Himalayan salt. Also, sunflower seed and pumpkin seed milks are awesome, economic alternatives to almond milk, and I think I’m gonna have a go at walnut milk next, just for fun. What are your favourite flavours?

*Photo: caramelised garlic hemp almonds made by yours truly, with brazil nuts and walnuts in the background.

**It’s milk. M-I-L-K. I don’t get this ‘mylk’ business. Milk is milk.

***Don’t? Watch this video by the gorgeous Sarah Britton of My New Roots. I like a ratio of 1 portion nuts: 3 portion water + a smidgen of salt + cinnamon.

Positive affirmation for the day: Choosing healthy food is the ultimate form of self love.

Roasted garlic and cauliflower soup with lemon-tarragon oil

Earthy, slightly sweet roasted cauliflower soup mixed with a tangy dressing with aniseed undertones and a spike of black pepper. Healthy never tasted so good.

Here’s what I did the cauliflower greens:

tossed with oregano, thyme and plenty of coconut oil.

Creamy, slurpy saag paneer

Heidi Swanson’s saag paneer, minus the paneer. So just, um, saag? Or curry-flavoured creamed spinach…

Cheese was overrated anyway. Black sesame seeds for the win. (And coconut yoghurt!)
